Cooperation with the German Partners – for the Sake of IDPs

 

Today Chairman of the Board of the State Fund for Support of Youth Housing Construction Serhii Komnatnyi has met with Director of KfW Office Kyiv Lutz Horn-Haacke, Project Director of GIZ Ukraine Maik Matthes, Second Secretary, Head of Cooperation of the Embassy of the Federative Republic of Germany in Ukraine Tobias Schrader and other GIZ employees at GIZ office.

The perspectives of cooperation in the sphere of increasing efficiency of housing policy in our state were being discussed. Particular attention was paid to the protection of IDPs’ rights.

Serhii Komnatnyi dwelled upon the initiatives of the State Fund for Support of Youth Housing Construction which had given a chance to update and make the terms  of the Affordable Housing programme and granting loans from the Fund’s charter capital to young citizens closer to people’s requests. A presentation of projects being proposed to international partners for joint implementation by the Fund was made.

The representatives of German organizations informed about the main directions of their activities. It was said that the German Government decided to allocate 45 mln Euros for solving of the housing issue of IDPs in Ukraine under different programmes and projects.

In particular, it went about the absence of official statistics showing IDPs’ housing need. The creation of such a database may become one of directions of cooperation between international organizations and the Fund.  At the end of the meeting, its participants emphasized readiness to develop joint work for the sake of IDPs and other Ukrainian citizens.
