Today, on August 27, The Chairman of the Fund’s Board, Serhii Komnatnyi took part in the fifth extended meeting of the Interdepartmental work group for coordination of processes of implementation and monitoring of the Sustainable Development Goals in Ukraine.

The meeting was chaired by the First Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv.

The Chairman of the Fund’s Board is a member of the Interdepartmental work group.

During the event, the monitoring report on Ukraine's progress towards achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals was presented.

It should be reminded that the Sustainable Development Goals or the Global Goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development are a call and a guideline for action to  bring poverty to an end, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.

The competence of the Fund as a tool for public housing policy is to participate in the achievement of Goal 11 “Sustainable Development of Cities and Communities”, in particular the objective 11.1 – to ensure affordability of housing, defined by the National Report “Sustainable Development Goals - Ukraine”. In addition to the practical implementation of housing programs, the Fund has co-organized a number of international events dedicated to this topic.

During the event, it was noted that the housing affordability monitoring Indicators in Ukraine for 2018 will be published in November this year.

Commenting on Ukraine's progress towards the goal 11 “Sustainable Development of Cities and Communities”, Serhii Komnatnyi reminded on the thesis of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, that was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948: “Access to decent and affordable housing is a basic human need and one of its rights”.
